RPO Z-06 – Race Car

This Daytona Blue over tan leather split window coupe is one of 199 1963 Z-06 equipped race Corvettes built. It is fully documented back to its original owner who took delivery from Kurdy's Chevrolet in Richmond, Indiana on March 4, 1963. It is listed in the Z-06 Registry and is one of three in this color combination and the only one equipped with Saddle leather. It has been authenticated by Corvette experts Kevin Mackay and Franz Estereicher.

The car was titled new by the original owner, Steven Hull, but never street registered as it was used as a race car. Subsequent owners also raced the car in the upper Midwest, including Graitan, IRP, Waterford and Road America among others. Interestingly, each owner submitted a certification to the Bureau of

Motor Vehicles that the car “would not be operated upon the highways of Indiana" documenting its use only as a race car. Atley Peterson, the fourth Owner and a student and General Motors Institute, raced the car in SCCA BP until he crashed the car hard at an event in Britton, MI. He sold the car to Danny O'Brien on December 4, 1971. O'Brien stored the car for many years intending to fully restore it. Mr. O'Brien passed away before he started the project and the car and related parts were sold at auction. Michael Harling, an avid car collector, ultimately purchased the car and had the well-regarded Nabors Brothers of Dallas, TX complete a total restoration back to its as-delivered configuration.

During Mr. Harling's ownership, the car was awarded:

The current owners purchased this Z-06 in January 2016 and immediately sent it to Kevin Mackay of Corvette Repair for a Refresh. It has subsequently been awarded:
