This rare 1965 Corvette was purchased new in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Daniels Motors, Inc. by John Neal. He purchased the car with the rare NO3 option for the 36.5 gallon gas tank. This option was intended to be used in cars destined for the race track. Mr. Neal purchased the option so he could drive the car long distances without worrying about finding fuel in the open country of Colorado. Only 41 1965 Corvettes were equipped with this option. Options on this rare car include the famous 327/365 HP solid lifter motor, power brakes, teak/telescopic steering wheel, power windows, 4.11 positraction, AM/FM radio, back-up lights, Kelsey-Hayes knockoff wheels and gold line tires.

The car was damaged in an accident in the early 1970s and was left sitting for over 35 years. The car was finally purchased in 2006 and went through an extensive frame-off restoration to original condition. Between 2008 and 2009, the car achieved NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold Certification, NCRS Performance Verification, and the highest level award, the NCRS Duntov Award.

The car was purchased by the current owners in March 2014 and was immediately sent to noted Corvette restorer Kevin Mackay for a freshening. It was invited to be displayed at the 2015 Bloomington Gold Special Collection. In 2016, it returned to Bloomington and was awarded Bloomington Gold. At the Hilton Head Motoring Festival in 2015, it was awarded Best in Class in the American Sports Car category.
